About

Lisa and John

I am a married to my college sweetheart, John, for 45 years, a mother to 4 amazing adult children, Maria, Paul, Timothy and Kevin, a mother-in-law to three wonderful daughter-in-laws, Sarah, Becky and Jackie, and one fantastic son-in-law, Brian. I have 6 beautiful grandchildren ranging in ages of 22 years to 18 months. Cameron -22, Timothy 14, Hadley 11, twins- William and Louis 2 1/2, and baby Jude – 18 months. I have just retired from a 25 year career in photography.

Presently, I am an amateur winemaker on a journey to make a very drinkable wine. I love wine. I love most red and white wines. I do not like sweet wines, even though I know they have a place in the wine industry. I drink wine almost every evening. My favorite wine has always been Chardonnay. I like a crisp, slightly acidic, non-buttery, non-oaked Chardonnay. My go to Chardonnay for years was Mondavi, Woodbridge $9-10 Magnum. It was cheap, very tasty and went down very easy with no after thought.

I am a member and Vice President of Missouri Wine Society and a member of American Wine Society. I am currently studying to become a wine judge with American Wine Society. I have won a gold medal for my 2017 Chambourcin/Norton Blend and a silver medal for my 2018 Chardonel. I entered both wines in the 2019 Winemaker Magazine Competition which is the largest international wine competition. Two of my wines, 2018 Chardonel and 2018 Red Blend received two honors amongst my peers in the Missouri Wine Society favorite white and red contests.

The reason I am starting this blog is not to be informative. OK, maybe a bit informative. But there are a gazillion web sites out there that have a ton of info on winemaking and on many occasions I will refer them to you. I want you to enjoy and appreciate my trials and tribulations in my winemaking adventure. I want you to laugh with me and come into my life. I want you to be my friend.

So for today, grab a glass of your favorite wine, sit back and enjoy the journey.
